Getting Ready For Baby

I'm not gonna lie. This pregnancy has been totally different than my pregnancy with Liza.

With Liza I documented every doctors appointment, I knew exactly how far a long I was, how big she was compared to a fruit, and what was developing that week.

Barefoot and Pregnant with Liza :)
I watched what I ate, I daydreamed about pink, knew how I wanted to plan her nursery, and had bought her a coming home outfit before I even reached the 27 weeks I am with this baby boy.

Coming Home

Part of me feels a little guilty. This poor boy might never have a name. He has no clothes and will have to share a room with his big sister.

The other part of me knows that this probably just happens with most second pregnancies. I barely have time to eat, never mind remember how far a long I am!

Money is also tighter this time around since I am not working, which has prevented me from doing my baby boy shopping yet. Not to mention, shopping with a two year old isn't exactly enjoyable. Hopefully this month :) I'm excited to pick up some little newborn onesies and order new newborn cloth diapers. I'll need some new receiving and swaddle blankets and some warm winter gear. Other than that, baby but can probably get by. He might have to sleep on big sister's pink sheets for a bit, but who cares!?

What Liza's room looked like a few months ago.
It is killing me that I can't set up a sweet baby boy nursery, but we simply don't have the space in this house. We don't plan to stay here much longer so investing in anything seems like a big waste of time and money, but I am excited to get things going today!

I am clearing out Liza's toys in her room to make room for some baby boy things. I hope I can transform the space without spending any money. I've already pinned a few ideas on Pinterest that inspire me and I hope within the next few weeks to start DIYing some little details for their room.
This might fit into the tree that's painted on Liza's wall?

I am also oddly excited in the challenge that this small house has thrown at me. Where to put all the toys?! And I haven't even begun to think about where the baby's swing and bouncer and things will go! I'm accepting this challenge and hope to kick it in it's behind!

I'll have to post some In Progress and Completed pictures for you all. Think I can do it?!

I do!

Please keep Katey and her family in your thoughts and prayers that the end of their journey traveling from Canada to MA is safe and easy! I'm excited to have an old friend back home. Although we'll still be 40 min or so apart :(

XOXO Sarah

  1. I can only imagine how amazing Liza and baby boy's room will be when you are done! If it makes you feel any better, J has been here for almost 11 weeks and we havent decorated his nursery yet. There's a crib, dresser and glider. Nothing on the walls, a rug that is SO not meant to be in a goys room. Some day....
I can't wait to see what you do with the room!

    1. I don't think I'll be doing too much to it, but I hope to make one side of the room a little more boyish! And really, I know he won't even be sleeping there for a while, but I just felt like he needed some kind of spot! lol

  2. Don't worry, you'll find the room. My second I always forgot how far along I was, the third when people asked I always answered with "I'm due in April" and let them do the math.

  3. Oh my goodness, your daughters room is beautiful! I was the same way during my second pregnancy...I never seemed to know how far along I was and I felt so unprepared when I hit the third trimester.

    1. Awe, thanks! It's a little sad to be changing it around, but I'll be leaving the walls since I can't seem to paint over her tree!

  4. Don't beat yourself up over it. Your a busy mommy now. Things are different. You should of seen me with my third...at least I had all boys. I felt so bad that he had all hand me downs I insisted on going out and buying him his own NEW outfit to be brought home in. The pregnancy may be different but the LOVE is all the same.

  5. I saved ALL of Liza's clothes because I was sure I would have another girl! I'm lucky to have some super awesome friends who are handing me down or lending me some things. I will still need to buy him some new stuff though, because that's part of the fun of having a baby! Hehe :)

  6. I already see myself being the same way when we have Baby #2. Life just gets so much busier, and you have a lot more on your mind!

I also LOVE that bird mobile! Too, too cute!!

  8. You're right, you know, it's how it goes with the 2nd. You'll notice many differences too once he arrives. What's beautiful is that they still feel our tremendous love even though it's manifesting itself differently than the first time. ps. You are a seriously cute pregnant woman! I'd consider a 3rd if I knew I could look like that LOL

  9. I felt my second got a little gipped in the same ways. With your first you have no other kids to take care of and everything is new to you. Not saying that the second time is any less special but you kind of know the ropes. :) I made that mobile for my daughter. It took me 10 hours to sew all of the birds by hand! http://www.mywrinkleintime.com/2009/11/nesting.html
