Post Halloween

How was your Halloween?

We don't make too much of a big deal about it, but we still had loads of fun!

And loads of candy. Someone take it away from me!

This is my favorite time of year and I am more excited than usual because it means we are getting so much closer to welcoming our new little boy!

I wanted to share with you the costume that I made for Liza this Halloween. When I finally heard the same "pink owl" costume idea from Liza a few days in a row, I knew that's what she wanted to be. I really didn't want to spend money on a costume that she would only wear once, so I went looking for an easy DIY version.  I found my inspiration on Pinterest, of course.

Pure Joy Events Tutorial
I pretty much followed the tutorialexactly and it was pretty easy!
Here's how it turned out. Not perfect, but still cute!

My friend Pam of Heads or Tails Boutique made her fabulous owl hat!

I could not get a good picture to save my life, but hopefully you get the idea.

I am a little late to the party, but I am linking this post up to the super inspiring Pinterest Challenge over on Young House Love.

Since we are talking Halloween costumes, check out Katey's adorable kiddos! They are in the process of moving, but she sent me a few pictures.

  3. You did such a great job on her costume! I'm very impressed. We had a great Halloween, although Trick-or-Treating was rescheduled to Saturday in our town, due to the majority of people still being without power.

    1. I'm not usually very good at it either, Jane! I was too scared to use my sewing machine so I sewed those feathers by hand! Haha!

  8. We don't make a big deal out of Halloween either - and we're trying to limit the candy! In the past we've driven the kids around to friends' and families' homes - we get in a few visits and only get a few treats - but this year many people still didn't have power and we just didn't feel like driving around all evening. The kiddos still got dressed up and we went out for pizza. When we got home, Phil ran inside the house and the kiddos knocked on the door for treats. :)

I made butterfly wings for Gwen from a big playsilk, dyeing it pink and purple. They came out really well and will make a nice addition to her dress-up clothes. She just wore purple pants and a pink shirt on top, and a multi-colored tutu. Josiah wanted a kitty face, like we did last year, so I did kitty makeup and ears. :) I wore an orange shirt and was going to use black tape to make a jack-o-lantern face on my belly but opted instead to wear little blue horns that I got one year at King Richard's Faire. We had a great time

Love Liza's costume - you did a great job! It's always so fulfilling putting something together myself. :)
